The Palio della Contea d'Aquino is a medieval historical reenactment that enlivens the center of Aquino for three days, from September 4 to 6, 2026. Costume parades, traditional games and shows involve the districts of the town in a festive atmosphere that combines history, folklore and local gastronomy.
The event takes place mainly in Piazza San Tommaso, the heart of the Ciociaria town. The first evening, September 4, is dedicated to the Palio dei piccoli with games such as the bean pot race, sack race and rope jumping. On September 5 and 6, the Grande Palio competitions are held, with skill tests such as the stick race, tug of war and barrel race.
